The fact that the very first screwdriver was lost down a drain hole and they just said "Screw it, use the jacket whistle end piece." honestly feels like something the Doctor would do in the show.
This is excellent editing!
If you feel it CHASE IT

"we ware on smoke that day naming these things" yep best who video

Great!
Is the fleshed out full size model going to be there from blue studio?

Coincidentally, there is also an exhibition called "Sue the T-rex" at the St Louis Law Center. 😉
Does anyone know where I can watch the full version of this on the internet?
Hi
Hard to find showing’s ;(
Sonic screwdriver is used by RTD as a magic wand
Video was reused. The sonic was dropped into the foam. It was an ordinary pen torch.
Just saw this. It was good.
I have been fortunate enough to experience this wonderful OmniMax theater twice during my brief residency in St. Louis, and I can say without a doubt that it was the best theater experience I have ever had for film, including a couple of other flat screen IMAX theaters. They have upgraded the theater since then, with several new features, but the biggest one being the switch over to a laser projector. If you ever have a chance to experience one of these OmniMax theaters (IMAXdome), even if it is for a film that you have absolutely no interest in seeing whatsoever, go regardless!!! The experience alone is worth it!!! 1:33 Being how I am constantly looking for a really cool experience which I can not get everywhere, I definitely would not mind checking her out thoroughly! She may appear somewhat plain in the eyes of many, but not to me, for there is a certain _je ne sais quoi_ emanating from her which I can not put my finger on, nor in, but likely my inexplicable affinity for her is conjured by the expressions in her eyes, and whatever magical energy that is persistently radiating from them, along with the intoxicating power that her smile wields, and the mesmerizing motions of her gestures, beyond that, her name is Coco!!! Where the hell was she when I lived in St. Louis??? Seriously though, if you ever find yourself presented with a chance to attend a showing in an OmniMax theater (IMAX dome), do everything in your power to go!!! You won't regret it, unlike my regret regarding Coco. "For all sad words of tongue or pen, The saddest are these: 'It might have been!'" - M.M.
I went there
Is the main T. rex also pneumatic?
Thanks for posting! Im getting my banana pied BP this weekend!!!!! I named him Monkey and am Soooooo excited! Have a great day!
I watched this video and I was like "Finally! Someone else who's interested in the extremely slow and gradual evolution of TV and movie props for some reason!"
U pine
🥰🥰 these two
I wish he spoke about the grey aztec
Absolutely marvellous. I feel as though I have learnt a great deal.
I LOVE EXPO!!!!! try lightning harnessing power plant by Steve LeRoy
What about the Tennant screwdriver in The Day of the Doctor?
He is The Sixteenth Doctor.
nicely done. looking forward to more from you.
I seem to remember Baker referring to it as a “thasic?”
I remember in some of the Series 1 books, the Vortex Manipulator is referred to as... I think it was a "wrist-o-matic..."
That was truly fascinating ❤
So, effectively.
I always wondered why the sonic screwdriver for the 8th included in the 11 doctors set was all silver instead of gold and red
I wish he had mentioned Romana's from Nimon
Don’t you worry, I’ve got you covered! Here’s a video I did all about the Romana prop. ua-cam.com/video/hYJYXk82kXM/v-deo.htmlsi=B9aMV1Y_dvwY0okd
That was quite interesting! They certainly looked well loved
Love the video on the behind the props on doctor who thank you James Sutton . As a hobby I build radio control cars and at li who I built a 1.10 scale Bessie body and drove it around like who this is it ua-cam.com/video/ZjBReMCWohg/v-deo.htmlsi=3bEKPEzhO_h7kOfs
Pretty sure that all props only light up and the SFX is added in post. 01:25
That's true the only props that do sometimes make sound are the replicas that fans can purchase from the prop maker such as rubbertoe replicas
Basically all the classic ones were lost, thats why they changed them😆
So Nic Hey 🎶💦🎶
I heard that the Sonic used in Tennants time was actually the toy because the original prop was unreliable.
I know that they used the toy of the 11th doctor’s sonic as a stunt prop in the rings of ahkaten
They had stunt versions made using the prototype toy, but there was never a point where the toy was used as the hero prop in the early seasons. The 9th CO toy does appear briefly in the sonic pen pot in series 10 tho. In Matt Smith and Capaldi’s eras they did use the toy for some scenes, cutting to the hero metal version for close ups. The main reason being the released 9/10 toy screwdriver is oversized, so you can’t really get away with seamlessly swapping them out as it’s noticeable.
@@ScarecrowPropspretty sure that wasnt the toy in season ten pot , it was a proper replica
@@lukew636 if you look again, as I said, the 9th Doctor CO toy sonic can be seen on the right side of the pot in between a “sixteen/12” 4th sonic replica, and a CO 4th sonic toy. You are correct however that there is a proper MFX 10th Doctor replica on the other side of the CO 4th toy, in the middle of the pot next to the CO 3rd sonic toy.
@@ScarecrowProps I'm not sure , but I can't find any information online to confirm it's a character options toy have you got a source? Even that highly detailed PDF off rubbertoes sight doesn't mention it.
I like the classic 3rd-5th drs sonic screwdriver I owned several of those type .it looks like a tool but not keen on the new ones
You're telling me you don't like the new one that looks like a makeup compact case for Barbie?
what about the 50th anniversary version of 9/10s? the one thats wayyy too yellow, why not mention thatttt
Ooh that’s a whole can of worms to open, I was strapped for time! The 50th anniversary sonic was actually the MFX Replica sonic screwdriver that had become publicly available in 2009. This was because the 2 original hero props (the Cream and Grey Robatto’s) were out of action at the time of filming the 50th, as one had been given to David Tennant at the end of filming the End of Time, and the other had been damaged at the end of filming the 11th Hour. So they needed to find a few new props in time for filming, which is where the MFX replicas came in. Neill Gorton provided 4 to production, all practically identical besides the slight natural variations in the crackle paint. And speaking of crackle, let’s address the “wayyy too yellow” comment, you’re quite right, it was the wrong colour. The original crackle effect paint that was used on the 9/10 sonics was from a brand called plastikote, and they had multiple colours available that all gave the same effect, however the originals used the paint labelled “Colony Cream”, whereas the MFX replicas were painted in “Heritage Gold”, hence giving that golden, darker shade, in comparison to the previous light cream. However this wasn’t entirely inaccurate, as the original props had been repainted several times since the beginning in a different branded crackle paint, which had been coloured differently, and that started to wear over time. By the end of the Tennant era, they had gone a darker grey/cream shade, not quite heritage gold, but definitely somewhere between the 2. So when MFX had chosen the paint for their replicas, the heritage was the visually closer equivalent to the originals out of the 2 plastikotes. There’s even more than that lore on these, but there’s a quick (ish) answer!
@@ScarecrowProps Such an interesting presentation, James. It's so great that we can learn so much about the genesis of props and then details about their 'working lives', so to speak.
2:50 Where it gets consistent identity? Tell that to Ncutis sonic shoedriver
This was such a delightful watch! I love these looks behind the curtain, especially from someone who had their proverbial boots on the ground.
Its the new years, I am not with my family and watching this at 4 am. Wow I have no life.
James Sutton is awesome he was omega in dw2012 fan films amongst other roles torchwood fan film
What about the rest. Is there a continuation?
What a throughly enjoyable and informative video. I consider myself to be decently knowledgeable about both the old and the new show, but I had no idea about the life jacket whistle or the thunderbirds prop. Amazing stuff!
Where were these kinds of demonstrations when I used to go to the center as a kid.
Good presentation
I'm sad he didn't mention Matt Smith and forward :(
That entire period onwards is best stricken from the record.
@@newsbenderI will not accept any Capaldi era slander
Well you can find a lot of information of that sort on the rubbertoe replicas page
